Some people are lucky enough to have families that support them no matter what.  It feels really awesome to know that your most important people love you for exactly who you are, and that you don’t feel the need to hide anything from them.  Others are so completely at odds with those around them that they wonder how on Earth they could possibly have come from these people!  And then some keep so much to themselves that their families have no idea who they are.

If you fall into that ‘family oddball’ category, you are definitely not alone!  I don’t know about you, but I’ve been so repeatedly bombarded with my family’s judgments about other people, that I don’t dare reveal anything about myself!  Because I do love these people, even if I know they wouldn’t like the real me.  And because I know they have no intention of changing their minds.  And because keeping the peace is important to me.

So, what happens when your ideas about life go against the grain?  How do you keep from just giving up and shrinking yourself back down so you fit in their box?

You find your tribe.

But wait!  Isn’t my tribe those people who think I’m crazy?  Or the ones who don’t know I’m crazy, because they don’t know anything about me?

Well, no.

Believe me, no matter what you want to do in life, or how you want to live it, there are other people out there who want the same thing!  I know, you’re thinking that may be true, but you really don’t want to be associated with ‘those’ people.  Right?  Because you’ve been hearing all your life that there’s something wrong with what you want, and something wrong with the people who want it.

There’s not.

So you go find some of those other people.  The ones who are like you.   The people who will like you just the way you are.  The people who will lift you up!  The people who will celebrate with you as you become more and more YOU!  Who get excited when you have that ‘Aha!’ moment!  When you shake off those chains and step into your power and stake your claim in the world!  Because you are here for a reason, and it’s not to live in somebody else’s box!

Love your family.

Find your tribe.

Be yourself.
